President Kaguta Museveni travels to Davos for World Economic Forum
President Kaguta Museveni has left the country for Davos in Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum.
Museveni, Uganda's president since 1986, will join other world leaders, academics and thinkers to engage with "the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas."
The president travelled on Tuesday and said the key discussion 'will focus on how to make globalization work for everyone, not just a few individuals'.
He has spoken passionately against climate change and his government continues to evict people from encroaching wetlands.
Last year, Museveni, while addressing other leaders at the inaugural Sustainable Blue Economy conference in Kenya, said his government has resorted to 'bribing' people who invade wetlands because forceful eviction would have negative political implications.
The three-day annual World Economic Forum which started on Tuesday morning.
US President Donald Trump, UK prime minister Theresa May and French President Emmanuel Macron cancelled trips to Davos over domestic difficulties.
