Musoke was admitted to Kiruddu National Referral Hospital in Kampala following the attack, which NUP leaders said occurred on August 22, 2026.

NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya says Musoke was inside the house when the attackers allegedly secured it from outside before setting it ablaze.

Neighbours reportedly rushed to the scene and managed to rescue him from the burning building.

Musoke sustained extensive burns and was rushed to hospital for treatment. By the evening of August 22, his condition was described as critical but stable.

Rubongoya visited Musoke at Kiruddu Hospital following the attack and said medical workers were attending to him.

He called for a swift investigation to establish who was behind the attack and their motive.

The NUP secretary general also called for an independent investigation and accountability for those responsible.

Images and accounts of Musoke's injuries have since circulated among NUP members and supporters on social media, prompting messages wishing him a quick recovery.

However, the party's account of how the fire started has yet to be independently verified, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects.

NUP leaders have in recent years complained about arrests, disappearances and violence targeting some of their members and supporters.
