During his recent wide-ranging engagement with newsmen, Wine used an analogy that to some people would come across as well-worn, but his critics saw an opportunity to mock him.

It's not clear where the analogy originated from, but it's been used several times and every user seems to paraphrase it.

Even Nigerian crooner Burna Boy has used the phrase. He said: "A sink doesn't sink because of the water around. A ship will sink because of the water that gets in."

Wine used the same analogy though he translated it to Luganda. Galaxy FM joined Burna Boy's video with that of Bobi Wine and shared the merger on TikTok, inspiring polarising comments.

One of the commenters said: "u really think Burna was the first to say it?? it's a very common saying"

Another said: "I THINK GALLAXY JUST HATES ON BOBI WINE🤌🤌"

Said another: "i can also use it in lusoga. its just a saying."

Reads another comment: "principal is like dat a copa"

Reads another: "ugandans never disappoint😅"

Another comment goes: "he is giving content 😂😂"

While for Bobi Wine, it's a case of trolling, public figures have been exposed before for copying speeches.

For instance, in 2016, Melania Trump, wife of former U.S. President Donald Trump, was accused of copying elements of a 2008 speech by Michelle Obama.

Her speech writer would later take responsibility for including Michelle Obama's words in the speech.
