Museveni refuses to sit in a Japanese made car because they are not good investors
President Kaguta Museveni refused to sit in a Japanese made car -- the Toyota -- during his visit at the cars country headquarters in Namanve, along Jinja Road.
Museveni, 74, on Thursday, commissioned 6 newly established manufacturing 'factories' at Namanve Industrial Park, including Toyota Limited -- which he insisted was a showroom and warehouse.
He said: "We got tired of Toyota a long time ago. Japanese like selling us things but don't want to establish car manufacturing factories here. We are tired of showrooms.
"I was asked to sit in one of the Toyota cars so that they car take pictures. I told them I can't sit in a car which isn't mine. I just gave them blessings."
In October, Uganda's longest bridge -- Source of The Nile -- was commissioned. The 525 meters long bridgeis estimated to cost about $112m. 80% of its funding was done by the Japanese government.
The Ugandan praised, however, has continued to praise his Chinese counterparts describing them as doers and "not just talkers".
