MP who cried in court after being sexually harassed speaks out amid public criticism
Kabarole district woman MP Sylvia Rwabwogo has spoken out for the first time after a student who sexually harassed her was sentenced to 2 years in jail.
Brian Isiko, 25, pleaded guilty to counts of cyber harassment and offensive communication before Buganda Road Court on Thursday.
The legislator has revealed that "there's more than meets the eye" claiming that "this was not just about love messages. This boy was being used by some selfish individuals in a mission to lure me with love and kill me".
Rwabogo says she endured fear and suffering for a long time and couldn't "wait to be killed" -- adding that she reported the 25-year-old as a precautionary measure "to protect myself, my family and constituents from horror".
"If it was for love, I have had many even those younger than Brian and much older, but this was none like other with intentions to harm me," she said.
What happened?
Brian Isiko was arrested after the legislator agreed to meet him at a popular restaurant in Kampala after endless calls and "I love you so much" messages since last year.
The Kabarole District MP asked police Parliament for a guard before setting up the appointment -- Brian was arrested upon reaching the rendezvous
Criticism
Users on social media continue to vent in after Bran Isiko was sentenced o 2 years behind bars.
Several people are accusing the legislator of being naive and inconsiderate -- blaming for causing the 2-year jail sentence for the 25-year-old student over what they are calling "just love messages".
They also blame the legislator for engaging in a conversation with a person she wasn't interested in.
