Transport along the busy Thika-Garissa highway has been paralysed after it was blocked during chaotic demonstrations.

Transporters blocked motorists from using the busy highway as part of their protests after the Kenya National Highways Authority impounded 65 lorries that were carrying sand in Matuu.
Kenha has defended the impounding of the lorries claiming that many of the lorries were not properly licencsed.
Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu had been working with Kenha to implement a ban on sand harvesting in her county.
