Legendary rhumba maestro musician Mase Fan Fan is dead.

The accomplished rhumba maestro passed on after collapsing in Nairobi on Friday.

The 75 year old collapsed in his apartment along Thika road and was rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Media reports indicate that the deceased may have suffered a heart attack.

His producer Tabu Osusa revealed that Fan who is known for his hit song "Papa Lolo" was in the country to record a new song.

"We are still in shock and we are making arrangements to have him taken toadecent morgue as we reach out to relations. "Osusa said.

At the time of his death, he was expected to compose a new song, working alongside vocalists Paddy Makani and Disco Longa

His fans took to social media to mourn the rhumba legend who ruled the airwaves for several decades, belting one tune after another.

The deceased was fond of Nairobi and regarded the city as his second home, visiting the Kenyan capital several times.
