Inspector General of Police Okoth Ochola has confirmed plans to close Nalufenya, Ugandas torture facility.

Mr. Ochola made the revelation while appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Internal Affairs on Thursday.
He said draft plan to close the 'torture facility' is being finalized by Police Director of Legal Services and "any time from now" he will be "signing it".
This comes almost a month after police deputy spokesperson Patrick Onyango refuted the reports of closing the Jinja based detention facility since "no decision had been made on whether to shut it down or not".

Nalufenya has been condemned and criticized by several human rights organizations and political actors over torture and violating of human rights.
