A family of five people has dead after a fire ravaged their house in Nkantu Village in Iganga Municipality.
The fire which started at around 3am on Sunday night, burning to death a mother and her four children; including a 1-year-old baby boy, according to privately owned newspaper Daily Monitor.
Authorities in the area suspect that the family didn't put out the fire in the charcoal stove and also left the candle burning.
Busoga East police spokesperson said "a candle is suspected to dropped on a mattress and caught fire, spreading to the rest of the congested house".
"The fire was to much and we got the information late," James Mubi added.
The mother of four was reportedly drunk before the incident happened following a drink out at a local bar.
Reports also indicate that their neighbour was also "too drunk to notice the fire ravaging the neighbour's house".
