Former Kibuli SS head teacher accused of sexually assaulting 18 students retires innocently after lack of evidence
Former Kibuli SS head teacher Hajji Ali Mugagga Kasule has retired after he was found not guilty of sex offenses against his students.
The headteacher was in 2018 accused of having sex with 18 students at the Kibuli based school.
According to The Observer, a weekly Ugandan newspaper, Mugagga was found innocent after lack of evidence.
"For all the times ‘victims’ were invited, they did not appear before police," The Observer quotes their source.
The spokesperson of the police directorate of criminal investigations told the newspaper the case was closed: "You cannot claim that Mugagga sexually assaulted you but again fail to come and give evidence against him."
In January 2018, Mugagga handed over his office to allow for smooth investigations into the sex assault allegations.
Clearance was a top secret
The education ministry cleared the former headteacher in September 2018, lifting his interdiction.
His clearance was a top secret until the ministry redeployed him together with other head teachers and deputies early this month.
Mugagga, in his interview with The Observer, said he doubts whether he has 'the morale to work in public service' because his name was tarnished by 'selfish individuals' who 'concocted stories against me'.
