Born in April 1989, the Ugandan singer and songwriter has a Bachelor's Degree in Entrepreneurship from Makerere University Business School.
Using her vocals especially on live bands, backing it up with energetic dance moves, her performances never disappoint. The female live band and dancehall music fanatic has her own band which she has held for years. She kick started her career in secondary school at St. Joseph's Naggalama. Does your stage name mean anything to you?
Yes, it’s my real name and also my family name so that’s why I treasure it a lot. It reminds me of my family all the time.
Do you copy Cindy?
Nope, I don’t. She is way too high and hard to copy. I just love her so much and fancy every piece of her work. If you really want to copy her it’s already a loss on your side. Cindy is a masterpiece I believe and look up to her.
Can dating or being in a relationship affect one’s music career?
Yes, to some extent it can. Men come with different intentions and requests. If you are really serious about him, you have to please him in everything which may sometimes be hard and make you lose focus.
Would you sell off part of your property just to sponsor your wedding kwanjula?
Over my life I can never do it. I can never sell off my belongings or property to sponsor my marital ceremonies, if I happen to do that then I tend to be the man and he is the woman.
Are you dating, and what attracted you to him?
Yes, I am and happily into him. He is a buffet to me because he got every spice that I want from love, care and is very supportive of my music, I met him in Kampala.
Do you believe in operating a joint account while in a relationship?
When two people are in love and it’s a serious relationship, I believe it’s so ok to operate one account together. It should actually be a joint everything for lovers.
Have you had any stakeholder in the music industry that has asked you for sex in reward for assistance you were seeking for from them?
Yes, it was about my recently concluded concert. Someone had to help me with production but when I refused to first sleep with them, they refused to do it. But I don’t regret not sleeping with him because I did the work myself and it was a success. Such people also don’t deserve to be in this industry.
Do you still remember your first date experience?
Yes, it was really fun. I remember it was in senior one holiday we went to dance in the club during the day. During that time, it was really fun.
If time to walk down the aisle came, what would you look out for in a man?
A man who my heart really beats for and I have real feelings for. Am not into slay kings. I wouldn’t even care about the wedding venue because gangster love all the way works for me.
If you had shs 50,000 and your husband had shs100,000 shs, how much money would be in the house?
Definitely its shs 150,000, I believe in honesty. What’s mine is his and what’s his is mine too. I can’t play monetary hide and seek on the man I love and to whom I decided to spend the rest of my life with.
Besides music, what else do you do?
Since our music industry is still under total lock down, I have been busy doing music for my fans and I also opened up a health club as my side business to generate more income as I wait for the music industry to be fully opened hopefully.
Money or love, what comes first?
Without money love is useless and has no meaning and vice versa, so I believe the two are compliments of each other. Same level of value though love is another tender feeling.
Any musician you would like to collaborate with this year?
There are so many but when it comes to men, it's Gravity and another one with Daddy Andre. I would also love to do one with Irene Ntale. I love her so much. Her rock kind of music while on the guitar is something else.
You were once performing and your wig fell off, was it your most embarrassing moment of your life?
Nope I didn’t get embarrassed because my hair as well was not looking bad. My worst moment was when I was performing in club amnesia and my pants got torn. Good thing nothing inside was seen.
How has this lock down treated and affected you as an artist?
It has really affected me financially and economically. I had shows to perform during big public days like Easter and ‘Eid celebrations but it didn’t happen. As a musician, it’s through these events that we get some money. During the first total lock down when I had no sticker, I had to jump on a lorry to move and record music for my fans which was so inconveniencing.
When is your next project?
I have been releasing good music even amidst lock down to keep my fans entertained and thank God music has been highly appreciated. My latest song after Baba [Burn] is Mbeelamu featuring Maker Breaker which is also doing well on all media platforms and countdowns.
What do majority people say about you?
People say I am a nice, hardworking, sweet and supportive of others. Also because of my energy while performing some think I am a user of drugs but am always sober.
