The 34-year-old expressed concern about the continued brutalisation of Ugandans under the government of President Museveni.

"I want to know how you (Museveni) feel when you treat your people like this? How does it feel to continue brutalising Ugandans? Many times, you have told us you are our grandfather. A grandfather doesn't brutalise and frame his grandchildren

"Museveni, just like there was a time when you were not in power, there will be a time when you will not be in power. It's not too late to do what is right and it's not too late to save your legacy," Wine said.

The Kyadondo East legislator returned to Uganda last week on Thursday from the US after receiving medical treatment for injuries he allegedly sustained in detention.

There was heavy deployment at Entebbe Airport and surrounding areas. Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, was arrested shortly after his arrival and driven to his home.

The lawmaker also reiterated that the "People Power" movement is not a political power but rather an idea that shows people belongs to the people.

"People Power is not a political party, for now, but rather an idea that all power belongs to the people which is provided for by Article 1 of our constitution."

He added: "People power doesn't just refer to me. People power is you the journalists, lawyers, MPs, boda-boda cyclists and other millions of people. It's not a political power. We are aware that the state is so scared of people who come together."
