Seven others are receiving treatment at Bwindi Community Hospital in Kayonza sub-county.

The tragedy happened on Friday during a heavy downpour which found the pupils and their teachers in a school debate.

Authorities also reported that the lightning destroyed the school's solar system affecting the power supply.

The area has so far recorded 8 lightning deaths in the month of April only.

It's estimated that 24,000 people are killed by lightning strikes around the world each year and about 240,000 are injured.
