Five soldiers belonging to the Kenya Defence Forces were on Wednesday morning killed while ten others were injured in a deadly explosion in Lamu County.

The tragic incident happened after the military vehicle that the soldiers were using was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The Ministry of Defence confirmed the incident, adding that the 8AM incident happened as the soldiers were heading to fetch and distribute water to residents.
