Police have arrested four suspects accused of circulating letters threatening to kill business owners in Kampala if they dont pay large sums of money

They are part of a notorious group called "The People's Agency"which has been causing unrest in the business community.

Authorities have offered a reward of UGX20m for any information about John Mwanje, the group's leader.

Mwanje is believed to be the brain behind these sophisticated blackmails and robberies in the CBD.

Police in Kampala started investigating the threats against the prominent business persons in Kampala.

The threats are intended to extort large sums of money from their targets using bitcoins.

The deputy spokesperson of police in October urged prominent business persons to hire private security and install CCTV cameras as an additional measure of security.

The Ugandan government has deployed security personnel to guard Chinese investors following a wave of attacks.
