A lorry carrying traders and other goods hit the guardrails while trying to negotiate a corner at Kanaba, along Kabale-Kisoro Road, according to Chimp Reports.

Reports indicate that most traders who were seated on top of the goods fell off the lorry.

Deus Tumuranze, one of the survivors, said the overloaded lorry was speeding ahead of Monday's public market in Kisoro town and most of the people were killed by guardrails.

The death toll is expected to increase after most casualties were taken to the hospital in critical conditions.
