As the community was still reeling from the sudden passing of Dr. Rukia Abura who passed away suddenly in Mbarara earlier this week, the Uganda Medical Association (UMA) confirmed last night that another student died at Mulago Hospital.
Uganda has lost three medical students in less than two weeks, sending shockwaves in the medical community.

The deceased is Dr. Stephen Kasule, who has been undergoing a medical internship at Mulago National Referral Hospital
The medical association described Dr Kasule as “a humble, young, and dedicated doctor.”
A recent graduate of Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono, Kasule is reported to have succumbed to Sickle Cell disease on Thursday.
Over in Mbarara, investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of death of Dr Abura.
According to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital spokesman Halson Kagure, Dr Abura suddenly became unconscious and by the time an emergency team arrived at her residence, she was found dead.
Abura, who hailed from Lira District was attached to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit “(ICU). She was pursuing a Masters Degree in Anesthesiology at the Mbarara University of Science at Technology.
She was aged 30.
Earlier on November 14, another student, Dr. Pius Rwamafa passed away.
Rwamafa was a second-year Master of Medicine student at Makerere University.
The deceased, who was also a Physician at Mulago National Referral Hospital (TB and HIV ward), was described as a humble and committed person who dedicated his effort to the betterment of the community.
