‘We met through a funny trend’ - the story of famed TikTok couple Aviator and Mina
Last weekend the big faces of the Ugandan Tiktok family descended onto Fort Portal City for the giveaway of fellow TikToker, Mina the Queen, to her love, Ismael Nyanzi, better known as Aviator.
When it finally came, the event itself was nothing short of a big splash; from the gifts, to the deco, to the attires. A tasty blend of the Tooro culture (the bride’s), Kiganda (the groom’s) and Arabic cultures (where they both work) were also on display through the event.
Mina and Aviator have been dating since 2019. And having a significant following, their romance, which was projected almost daily on the platform quickly became big fodder for other content creators, vloggers and even television.
Speaking from his hotel room ahead of the ceremony, Aviator recounted how the two met.
“It was around 2019 when I first saw her. At the time the pandemic had just broken out and many of us were holed up at home doing nothing. Everyone was trying to find something to keep themselves and others entertained,” he said.
“So I saw one of her funny videos she made and it caught my attention. I immediately developed a huge crush on her. I was like, " I am going to give it my best shot.”
Their relationship, while welcomed by many users, was also resented by others, who believed Aviator was a class higher than Mina.
On her part, Mina, advised fellow TikTokers to desist from fights and insults, a very common trait on the platform, adding that this could cause them to lose out on some opportunities.
“My sisters, stop with the insults. You might be insulting your future husband,” she said.
The couple announced after the function that they were headed straight for honeymoon before returning to Dubai.
