It doesn't have to be away from home but a good open space is ideal for a picnic. Also, if you were waiting for a sign to build an outdoor fire pit, this is the sign. Bonfires can be a danger to you and your environment if lit carelessly. The fire pit that Solomon is seen trying to light is a good example of a safe pit.

As the sun goes down, the fire can make the picnic last a while casting golden light and chasing mosquitoes away.

In the video, the patriarch of the family is sitting down on a mat and trying to convince the Suubi Shine that his tea is not too hot for her to drink. The mat is filled with snacks, pastries, drinks and tableware for the occasion.

There are also other sitting arrangements and as the video pans to Shadrack, he is startled from his moment lost in something he's watching on the phone. He self-consciously looks away.

As the night takes over the sky, the fire becomes a beacon for everyone and soon it becomes about sitting around it and each person pitching in to keep it going or to enjoy it.

Barbie brings Bobi Wine, to the grooves of a reggae love song, a cup of evening tea and pancakes (kabalagala) a culturally beloved tea snack if there was one.

Organising and successfully executing a picnic is not complex and certainly doesn't have to be with a specific group of people. Everyone and anyone can enjoy a nice evening priming the fire, indulging in treats and snacks, and enjoying time outside.

So get started planning for your first or next picnic.
