Why Steve Jean pulled Blu*3 from Bien concert

The recently regrouped Ugandan girl band, Blu*3 was supposed to perform last Thursday at “A Night With Bien” concert in Kampala, only to be blocked by their producer.

Steve Jean stopped Blu 3 from performing at Bien's Kampala show

Bien-Aime Baraza of the Kenyan Afropop group Sauti Sol returned to Kampala for the love-themed show at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The Blu*3 trio, Cindy Sanyu, Jackie Chandiru and Lillian Mbabazi had reportedly been booked to open for Bien but ended up pulling out last minute.

Cindy has now revealed that they were told by their producer Steve Jean not to go.

In an interview, she said, they had to listen to Jean out of respect and also because they are still trying to court him to officially bring him back on board as their producer.

Blu*3 cannot be Blu*3 without Steve Jean, and we if really want to do it big, we have to go back to him,” she said,

So, we are back on the table with him and we want him to produce our show.

Cindy added, “Steve is like our dad, and we are a brand that he built. So if he says this is good for us or not, we have to listen.

Jean, born Steve Sserunkuma is the founder of Fenon Entertainment and is the one who produced Bien’s concert.

However, according to Cindy, he did not want the girls on stage before their bigger reunion concert which is slated for sometime in April this year.

Following the announcement of their reunion after spending over a decade apart, Blu*3, held a memorable mini-concert for their fans in December last year, where they promised to do a much bigger one.

This show was initially planned for Women’s Day on March 8th but was later moved to April, after the month of Ramadhan.

Cindy says Jean did not want them on stage to ruin what they might be having in store for the fans for the April show.

He said, let's keep this wrapped until the day so we don't ruin the surprise,” she said.

The reunion concert, she said, will be mostly about their old music, although they are currently recording some new music.

They also plan to release at least one video before the concert.
