The ladies, Jackie Chandiru, Lilian Mbabazi, and Cindy Sanyu say part of their motivation is to refocus the current generation which they feel has strayed.

Chandiru says having been apart for a decade, the trio thought of putting their experiences together to guide especially the young people through music.

Cindy released songs many years ago and people are still crazy about now. I put out a Lugbara love song and I am still feeding off of it,” she said.

We just want to remind people that we have picked this experience…all these years we have been doing all this stuff and we are turning it into a manual to guide this generation because it just feels like they have kind of diverted. There is like a huge diversion right now. It could be political, scientific or musical.

Chandiru also says the reunion is not about making money but leaving a better legacy.

What is the point of me putting out a song that is going to be around for two weeks and after that nobody wants to listen to that song,” she added.

Blu 3 have been in studio to create new music, ahead of the Legends of Sound Blu 3 reunion concert, set to take place on the 22nd of June 2024 at Kampala Sheraton Gardens

BLU3, who rose to prominence in the early 2000s, captivated audiences with their chart-topping hits like “Hitaji,” “Burrn,” “Sanyu Lyange,” and “Kankyakyankye.”

Their success established them as the most influential girl group in Africa, leading to sold-out concerts and numerous awards. However, the group disbanded in 2008 as the members pursued solo careers.
