I had to be honest with myself - Natasha Sinayobye on quitting music

Actress Natasha Sinayobye said she bowed out of the music industry after realising she could do better in other sectors of entertainment.

"Yeah, because, you see, you have to be honest with yourself, and you need to know what you are good at. So, for me, music was not like my forte; it's more the acting, and every other thing, the modeling, the influencing, yeah; that's what I'm good at," Sinayobye said in a video seen by this reporter.

She was among the founding members of the girl singing group The Obsessions, joining Sharon Salmon, Helen Lukoma, Jackie Tusiime, Cleopatra Kyoheirwe, and Brenda Nambi.

After leaving The Obsessions, she teamed up with her baby daddy Michael Kasaija to form Kombat Dancers, which they also folded to focus on acting with their debut movie titled Bala Bala Sese.

But Sinayobye, who is also a model, said she could try singing again someday in the future.

"Music, you never know, one day I will give you a Christmas Carol," she said.

Asked what she thinks of girl singing groups, she said: "It depends honestly. I would say whenever you get people to work in a girls' group, you have to get people that have chemistry, you understand; if you don't get chemistry, there is a problem... that time when I was there, we were not yet appreciated... in general... we were looked down on, but now where we are at, appreciation is on 100."

Asked if she would join another one again, she said: "No, I wouldn't. Not because I have disrespect for girls' groups, it's just that I think I fly better solo, yeah."

The former Miss Uganda runner-up said that acting has worked for her and a new project in which she is a lead actor is coming out soon.

"Acting is good, wait for next year [interview was done last year during the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards held on December 16], I have projects coming out, yeah; I can't talk about them right now, but there is a new series coming out on DStv called JDC, I'm the lead with the lady Tyra Abwok, she is 11; she is amazing, the director is Manzi Allan. We have the likes of Malaika Nyaka, Gaetano Kaggwa. So, basically, it's star-packed. So, yeah, it's gonna be a beautiful project," she said.
