Salim Tana Mukankwaya, who ran for Kisoro District Woman MP in 2024 on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket but lost, has been named to the party’s Election Management Committee.
A poster shared by NUP announced her appointment, saying: "Congratulations to you for being appointed NUP Election Management Committee Publicity! We welcome you to this crucial role. We look forward to your contributions and leadership."
Tana posted the poster on X and wrote: "I’m deeply honoured to be appointed as the new Publicity Secretary for the EMC. Thank you to the NUP leadership for entrusting me with this responsibility. I look forward to serving with dedication and amplifying our message of change and unity."
2024 was not her first bid for Parliament. At around 29 years old, she had previously contested for Kisoro Municipality MP in 2021 but lost.
She is the daughter of the late Salim Tana, a well-respected figure known for his contributions to the community.
