According to a Police report seen by this reporter, the officer-in-charge at Lumuli Police Station reported a case of aggravated robbery in Kakoola village, Ndejje Parish, Makindye Ssabagabo in Wakiso district.
“On January 4, at 9:30pm, the officer-in-charge at Lumuli Poluce Station reported a case of aggravated robbery in Kakoola village, Ndejje Parish, Makindye Ssabagabo in Wakiso district,” the report read in part.
The report further stated that the officer-in-charge received information that men dressed in Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) uniforms had staged a road block along a road within Kakoola village.
“Upon receiving the information, a Police patrol of about 5 police personnel was sent to deal with the situation. At the scene they found 2 soldiers with one gun and they had stopped motor vehicles,” excerpts from the report read.
The report also indicated that when they saw Police, they shot at it but were eventually overpowered and detained.
It is reported that when their colleagues learnt of their arrest, they (8 of them) retaliated with raiding the Lumuli Police Station and rescued their arrested colleagues.
Military Police later swung into action and arrested all the 10 soldiers.
It should be noted that last year, the President, Yoweri Museveni, directed the Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola, to reinstate roadblocks following increased cases of criminality, including attacks on Police posts.
