He said this changed when he, in the 1970s, started participating in national politics, and later, as President, his daughter, Patience Museveni Rwabwogo, joined the church as a pastor.

My family had never been involved in the government or church. In the government, I was the first person, and on the church side, my daughter is now a pastor. So, I thank Patience for introducing our family to that line,” he said.

Museveni made the revelation during the launch of Patience Museveni Rwabwogo’s book, Jesus’ Africa, on Friday, June 23, at State House Entebbe.

The President commended his daughter for her good grasp of the Bible, saying that he only learned of some things in the Bible through her new book.

What is amazing is the depth to which Patience went to study the Bible; there are things I had never heard of, and I did not know them until I went through her book. The depth of this knowledge and linking it with African patriotism is a masterpiece!” Museveni said.

According to Rwabwogo, "Jesus's Africa is a book that is for Africans on the continent as well as in the diaspora, but also for people who long to see God's redemptive purpose fulfilled in Africa."

She added, "We will delve into a lot of foundational issues that have affected our journey as a people in the past and in the present, and by the grace of God, we are looking forward to a better future."

Patience Museveni Rwabwogo is married to Odrek Rwabwogo, the presidential advisor on Special Duties and chairperson of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID).

She is a pastor at Covenant Nations Church, which is located along Old Port Bell Road in Luzira, Kampala.
