Students at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) on Tuesday elected Rose Nabwire as their 28th Guild President.
Nabwiire, who has been serving as Vice Guild President, clinched a landslide victory, beating 6 others in the race.
She polled 2255 votes, while her closest contender, Henry Lukwago, managed a distant 1242 votes.

Nabwiire is affiliated to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, although the university does not allow guild candidates to campaign on political party lines.

She became the university’s second female students’ leader after DP’s Pasquine Acaka, who served as Guild President in 2013.
In her brief message, Nabwiire thanked the students for entrusting her with the mandate to serve them.
She also received many congratulatory messages, mostly from supporters and leaders in the ruling party.
