Pastor Wilson Bugembe of Worship House Nansana has responded to critics who repeatedly attacked him for welcoming secular musicians into his church.
The backlash came after a panel on Kingdom TV, owned by Bishop David Kiganda, questioned the pastor’s decision to open his church doors to artists from the secular world.
In his response during a Sunday service, Pastor Bugembe addressed the criticism head-on, calling for unity among Christians and understanding of his mission.
"I just saw a video of some people who were on TV. I know one of them, but the others I don’t. They were insulting us as a church for welcoming celebrities," Bugembe said during the Sunday service.
Wondering how such criticisms could be aired on a Christian channel, Bugembe said instead of attacking, leaders should use their platforms to glorify God.
"If you have my number, why not just call me and ask, instead of insulting us publicly?" he added, calling for a more constructive approach from his fellow Christian leaders.
A Message of Compassion and Inclusion
Responding to the accusation that secular artists were being prayed for to have successful concerts, Pastor Bugembe posed a critical question: "Did you want them to go to the shrine to pray for their concerts?"
He stressed that the church’s role is to welcome both the righteous and sinners, quoting the Bible which teaches that Jesus leaves the 99 to seek out the one lost soul.
Bugembe reiterated that his church is a place for anyone in need of spiritual guidance, regardless of their background or profession.
"Whenever you feel hunger for prayer, our church will always be open to you," he concluded.
