On April 2, 2025, at around 10:00 AM, the Uganda Police, following a tip-off, rescued 51 victims from a human trafficking operation involving AIM Global Alliance, a networking company in the Nagalama division.
According to the police, victims were promised job opportunities but were instead coerced into paying fees for training. Each victim was instructed to pay 150,000 UGX upon arrival, which was supposedly for training purposes.
After taking their phones, the suspects then began recruiting the victims' friends and even called their relatives, asking for an additional 1.5 million UGX to purchase products for resale.
They promised the victims that they would eventually earn up to 1 million UGX, depending on how many people they could recruit and the sales they made.
The police operation took place in various locations across Kalagi. In Kakola village, Kyabakadde parish, and Kyampisi sub-county in Mukono district, 14 victims, including 3 males and 11 females, were discovered sleeping in a single room.
In Kalagi village, Naggalama A ward, 20 victims (10 males and 10 females) were found in a cramped room. Another 14 victims (6 males and 8 females) were discovered in a single room in Bbosa village, Kyabakadde parish.
The suspects, identified as Kasule Zephaniah and Nantima Evelyn, were arrested at the scene and are currently being detained at Nagalama Police Station. The police have since urged the public to be cautious of such scams and to report any suspicious activities immediately.
