At least four students at Buganda Royal Institute lost their lives in a road accident. The incident occurred on Garuga Road, in Katabi town council, Wakiso District, at the Musinde area.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the students were traveling in a Toyota Rumion towards a beach party when their vehicle collided with a stationary soda truck.

The cause of the crash is suspected to be overtaking in an unsuitable location.

"Investigations suggest that the driver of the Rumion, who was also a student at the institute, might have been speeding alongside another vehicle, a Toyota Hiace commonly referred to as a 'drone,'" revealed Michael Kananura, the spokesperson for the traffic police. "In attempting to overtake another car on a sharp bend, the driver lost control and rammed into the stationary Fuso truck laden with soda crates."
