All is set for this year’s MUBS Cultural Gala, scheduled for Friday, April 4th, at the MUBS main campus.

The event will be headlined this time by top Ugandan artists Vinka and Fik Fameica. 

Sponsored by Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU), the gala promises to offer a thrilling experience with high-energy performances from several renowned artists and DJs.

This year’s event will be packed with exciting activities, including drama, awards, mimes, and surprise performances. Attendees can expect an engaging celebration of Uganda’s diverse cultural heritage, with free Coca-Cola drinks available and Coca-Cola experience zones to engage with the brand.

Celebrating Uganda’s Rich Culture and Tradition

Macklean Kukundakwe, the Head of Trade and Marketing at Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda, shared excitement about being part of this year’s event.

"As a company, we are thrilled to be a part of this year’s MUBS Cultural Gala, which embodies the richness and diversity of Uganda’s culture and tradition,” she said 

“Many of the students here are already embracing their talents; some are in media working as influencers and harnessing their talents. We are committed to supporting such talents, whether it is through music, dance, or storytelling. We are here to uplift and support young people to showcase their unique identities.”

Kukundakwe also hinted at an exciting Coca-Cola experience, promising a day full of fun, magic, and engaging performances. The gala is set to bring together a fusion of traditional and modern Ugandan culture, with performances designed to captivate all attendees.

The Significance of the MUBS Cultural Gala

Moses Amanya, the MUBS Guild President, urged the entire student community to embrace the event with pride.

 “On April 4th, I call upon the whole student community to be part of this,” he said. “We should feel proud of who we are, and when you are called upon to present the tribe you belong to, feel proud and do it with all your heart.

Amanya pointed out that MUBS is home to students from various countries, including South Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, and other African nations, alongside Ugandan students representing over 40 tribes. "All these traditions will be represented," he added. 

"We should look at this as something precious that happens once a year."

The MUBS Cultural Gala is set to be an unforgettable celebration of the university's vibrant, diverse community. As the campus comes alive with music, dance, and theatre, the collaboration between Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda and MUBS brings the rich tapestry of Ugandan culture to the forefront.
