On Saturday, March 22, singer King Saha was attacked by revelers while performing in Ibanda town, western Uganda.

Saha, known for his recent anti-government songs, was singing tracks that did not sit well with some in the audience, particularly in a region where the National Resistance Movement (NRM) enjoys strong support.

The singer, whose real name is Manisul Ssemanda, among others, performed his hit song "Ekimala," a composition produced by Bass Boi, which was released in May 2024.

It is also reported that the show’s organiser is a strong NRM supporter, which may have contributed to the negative reaction from the crowd.

Videos from the event show Saha and his team engaged in a physical altercation with attendees, with items like chairs being thrown and people being kicked and punched.

King Saha eventually left the venue. In some clips, he is seen complaining about the poor sound system.

The event, held at the newly opened Kanuzire Lounge, also featured a pork joint. Despite being a Muslim, Saha performed at the venue, allegedly unaware of the venue's details.

The event attracted several high-level government figures and politicians, likely influencing the hostile reaction to his performance.
