Diamond Platnumz hails ‘pleasant surprise' in Ntungamo ahead of coffee concert

Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz said he was awestruck on Saturday morning on arrival in Rwashameire in Ntungamo for the ground breaking Coffee Marathon and Concert.

The Bongo Flava maestro arrived by helicopter at the Africa Coffee Park, the concert venue.

He was chauffeured 10km south to the spacious Africa Coffee beach on the shores of Lake Nyabihoko where he addressed a press conference.

Diamond impressed

When I came in I was amazed by the level of organization. Everything is on point. I saw the stage while landing, the entire venue set up is a pleasant surprise. I did not expect it, “ he said.

“This should make not just Uganda but the whole of East Africa proud. This tells the region how serious you are as a country."

The singer was flanked at the press conference by fellow artists on the concert line up including Rwanda's The Ben, Bebe Cool, Sister Charity, and Truth 265.

Inspiring Africans

The Tanzanian singer took part in a ceremonial coffee planting on the plantation overlooking the lake.

The beach is being developed by businessman Nelson Tugume, as an agro tourism aspect or the Africa Coffee Park.

It entails among others, an expansive coffee plantation, high end cottages on the shore and the lake islands, an airstrip, among others.

Singer Bebe Cool in his message, said the multi billion project should serve as an inspiration to Ugandans that economic transformation is possible.

“I keep saying everyday that Uganda is better than America and people think that it’s a joke. But it’s no, “ he said.

“ I think that having a mindset change and building confidence and trust in ourselves is important.”
