A map shared by the company indicates that Starlink will be available in several districts, including Kampala, Lira, Mbarara, Masaka, Jinja, Soroti, Kasese, Gulu, Pader, Kitgum, Hoima, Masindi, Kotido, and Kaabong, among others.
On Thursday morning, August 29, Musk announced on X that Starlink is now approved in 105 countries. Of these, 15 are in Africa, with Botswana and Ghana being the most recent to give their approval.
While the pricing for Starlink’s service in Uganda is still unknown, comparisons can be drawn from other countries in the region. In Rwanda, Starlink charges RWF128,000 (approximately UGX357,000) per month, with the hardware costing around UGX460,000. The ethernet adapter is priced at RWF66,900, and a 45-meter cable costs RWF191,500.

Currently, Kenya, South Sudan, and Rwanda are the only East African countries where Starlink services are available. However, some netizens have reported that Starlink can be accessed in Uganda if users opt for roaming services.
In Kenya, Starlink charges KES14,000 (about UGX403,000) per month, with the hardware costing KES45,500.
Starlink is operated by Starlink Services, LLC, a subsidiary of SpaceX, the American aerospace company. SpaceX began launching Starlink satellites in 2019, aiming to provide high-speed internet access globally, especially in underserved areas.
