Police in Ugandas capital, Kampala, is holding a 22-year-old girl for faking own kidnap.
Amina Mirembe told police authorities that she was testing how deep the boyfriend loves her.
Mirembe made endless calls to her boyfriend, James Mugoda, on Sunday saying the kidnappers want ransom of UGX500,000.
Mugoda reported the kidnap cases at Ntinda Police Station, according to the police report.
Authorities say Mirembe later called her boyfriend saying she had been rescued, hours after not receiving the ransom.
She admitted to detectives that her kidnap was made up after suspecting that "another woman was interested in her boyfriend" and "wanted to see if he truly cares about her'.
"Her statements were not coordinated given that no police patrol had been involved in any rescue," part of the police report reads.
The 22-year-old is being detained at Kira Road Police Station for giving false information.
Last week, Inspector General of Police Okoth Ochola revealed that of the 40 kidnap cases reported, 20 are fake.
