Security operatives over the weekend blocked Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) from performing at a show in Jinja.

The musician-turned-politician accused security operatives of arresting some of his team members from a hotel on gunpoint.

Wine, 36, also said police had mounted security checkpoints around Jinja town to intensify their search for him.

Now, the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has tasked the government to offer a detailed statement explaining why the blocked Wine from performing at a concert.

Kadaga's demands come after the outspoken legislator questioned the motive behind the police's actions despite clearing the concert to proceed.

Wine today said music is his other trade and he employs many Ugandans but police are 'frustrating his rights as a citizen'.

His foreign lawyer accused the Ugandan government of political witch hunt -- reflecting back on what happened in Arua on August 13 when his client and others were brutally arrested.

Robert Amsterdam described the move as a 'moral bankruptcy' of a regime which is 'brazen and dangerous'.
