Police boss faces disciplinary action over Dennis Itumbi's pictures

Muthaiga police station OCS has been interdicted over pictures taken and shared by friends of Dennis Itumbi inside the station.

Reports claim that the OCS, Alphonse Kimengua, was indicted after Itumbi was allowed to spend time outside the cell with his friends.

Photos that have been shared on social media showed him with journalist Jackie Maribe, politician Josiah Murigu and his brother David Itumbi.

On Thursday, the court directed Itumbi be detained for five days to allow the investigators to complete the probes.

Video evidence claims

Detectives requested to detain Mr Itumbi as they probe the source of a letter that alleged there was a plan to assassinate the Deputy President William Ruto.

However, Itumbi told the court that indeed there was a meeting held at Hotel La Mada whose agenda was allegedly to kill the DP.

He claimed that he had a video to prove his claim and requested the court to play it but the magistrate did not comment on the plea.

The former State House digital director is accused of posting the letter in a WhatsApp group of the Tangatanga team allied to Dr Ruto.
