Citizen TV journalist Jeff Koinange has detailed unknown details of the last days of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore.

On Monday, Jeff mentioned that he spent time with Mr Collymore on Saturday who disclosed that he was ready to die.

"I have never seen anyone prepared for death like I did this man," Jeff said adding that Collymore was in pain as his spine was giving him problems.

"He kept saying 'look I've lived a good life I have some regrets, it's not a perfect life, nobody is perfect but I'm ready now'," the Citizen TV anchor added, quoting Collymore.

Prepared for death

Koinange, who was a close friend of Mr Collymore added that the Safaricom CEO knew that his death was coming having been informed by his doctors.

"A group of us we had known this was coming, Bob had informed us. He had been informed by his doctors," Jeff stated.

According to Koinange, Mr Collymore's doctors had told him not to make longterm plans.

His doctors had also informed him that he would not make it past July having been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Collymore revealed chilling details of how he was misdiagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency initially when he fell sick.

After a series of tests, he went to London and it is there that a hematologist diagnosed him with Acute Myeloid Leukemia: a type of cancer that starts in the blood-forming cells of the bone marrow.

The 61-year-old went had been appointed as a Board member for the National Cancer Institute on May 8 this year.
