Ugandas Cabinet has approved the proposed measures to address the increased road accidents in the country, including introducing digital speed limiters.
The proposals were made during a weekly Cabinet meeting which was held on Monday 28th at State House in Entebbe.
These measures come barely a week after 23 people died in a grisly accident in Kiryandongo District.
The Cabinet approved the installation of digital speed limiters in all commercial vehicles in order to limit the speed to a preset value.
Members also agreed to introduce graduated driving licences to allow drivers of commercial vehicles to undergo refresher courses and training.
In 2017, road traffic accident deaths in Uganda reached 10,675 or 4.13% of total deaths, according to WHO data.
