Former Citizen Radio Sport’s editor Mutota Mutwiri has joined CGTN formerly known as CCTV Africa.

Mutwiri, who has been working with Sportpesa for the past two years, announced his new employer on Monday through a Facebook post.

"They say once a news hound always a news hound. The allure of the newsroom proved too strong to resist. After over 2 wonderful years atSportPesa, its time to resume my news career journey at CTGN Africa. Thank you all for the support. Here's to God mercies and new beginnings, I'm humbled,” wrote Mutota Mutwiri.

Mutwiri will be working as a Line Producer ( Sports) at the Chinese broadcaster that has its Africa headquarters in Nairobi.

In 2008, Mutwiri was crowned as the Sports Journalist of the Year Award at the CNN Africa Journalist Awards. He parted ways with Royal media services in 2017.

He is an alumni of the University of Nairobi (UoN) Journalism School and holds a Diploma in Mass Communication from Kenya Institute of Media Communication (KIMC).

In February, NTV Journalist Edmond Nyabola who had also joined CTGN (2018) made a comeback to the Nation Media owned TV station as a news anchor.

Previously, Nyabola used to host a sports show “Top Sport” before he was poached by CGTN and made a U-turn a year later, reconciling with his former employer.
