Who are the ADF rebels?
The ADF rebel group is a Ugandan terrorist organisation which has operated in the DRC's North Kivu province near the Ugandan border since the late 1990s.
The government of Uganda has blamed the rebel group of the well-orchestrated killing of its top officials, including members of parliament.
The main figure of the group was Jamil Mukulu, a former Catholic who converted to Islam. He has been in detention since 2015 following his arrest.
