He is accused of impersonating Balaam Barugahara, a music promoter, and raising millions of shillings in the name of sponsoring the MK Girl Project.
He did, however, seek promoter Balaam's forgiveness, pledging not to repeat the offences.
Asiimwe is also accused of soliciting money from other people while offering to acquire permits for them to travel abroad. Among his victims are said to be General Salim Saleh and others.
According to the prosecution, between January and July 2023 in Kampala and Kasese districts, the accused falsely represented himself as Balaam by creating a Facebook account in the name of Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi and communicating with the said Twinomugisha, soliciting money for the MK Girl Child Project when he was not.

During the same time period, Asiimwe allegedly sought to solicit 49000 pounds from Twinomugisha illegally.
He has been placed in custody until July 25, 2023.
Balaam Barugahara is a Ugandan music promoter and businessman who is closely affiliated with Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of President Museveni.
There have been efforts by people who support him (Muhoozi) under what has since been termed the "MK Project." The efforts are geared towards preparing him for the presidential contest in 2026.
Muhoozi has also expressed his desire to be president, something that has excited people who are in support of his presidency.
Uncertainty on whether he will run in 2026 or not still looms, as there are signs that his father may stand again as President.
