How often do men wash their b*ttcracks?

A controversial tweet talking about vajayjays with bad odour has so far hit 17 million views and amassed 15k likes. It has also struck nerves sending the comment section into the women's vajayjays Vs men's b*ttcracks debate and what needs to be done.

The tweep @_Joshxxo tweeted under "What sex opinion would have you in trouble" saying,

"A lot of women smell terribly down there but men keep massaging their ego during sex. 80% of the time men ghosted you after sex, it’s not because they got what they wanted but it's because you stink," the tweet reads.

Guys commented with experiences of encountering vags with unpleasant odours with one Viceroy @Jaffar_I_ saying "I once went to see a doctor, I wanted two of my fingers amputated because someone's smell wasn't going away bruh. It had been 4 days of tying my whole hand."

Some ladies suggested ways ladies can take care of this problem while some men asked how they can tell their sexual partners without hurting their feelings.

The conversation soon turned to men's hygiene when a tweep Deb O @debisking said, "Thanks, now tell your fellow men to start washing their ass🙌🏽."

This sent some guys attacking the user saying that she was defensive while some women agreed with her, one user hello demons, its ya boi, skinnypennis @jennieisthatb saying, "by the amount of responses to this, I assume y’all don’t wash your asses. The amount of times I heard of wax ladies stopping waxing men because of shit smeared all over the ass is enough for me."

Some female commenters also accused men of affecting their vag ph levels with poor genital hygiene causing infections to break out.

While it's true that @debisking had diverted attention from the main point, some of the responses of men under her comment were concerning.

Some asked her what she would be looking for to find out men don't wash their asses, others said it was gay for a man to wash his ass...TanG 🌍 @Ricado072 "wetin u dey go find for man nyash, abi na LGBT."

The context was sexual, however, this is the second time in the past year that this topic has gone a bit viral on sections of social media.

A few months ago, TikToker Kate "Elle Woods of Science" made a video that has since hit over two million views talking about an ex who did not wash his b*ttcrack and also assured her that nobody cares about that.

The reason for this lack of concern for sexual partners, ignorance, and unhygienic personal behaviour has been attributed to men's internalised homophobia by some netizens. However, the health repercussions are anything but concerned with any social stance or sexual orientation.

According to the chief of gastroenterology for AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Joel Krachman, who talked to Men's Health, dirty butts are not only gross, they can lead to hemorrhoids, infections, rashes, burning, and itching.

It can also pose serious health issues for those who engage in anal sex. One partner could accidentally pass on a viral or bacterial infection like hepatitis A, amoebas, giardia, or salmonella in their digestive tract to the other partner.

When Cosmopolitan's Megan Schaltegger did a small Q and A with men on the subject, two men out of ten said they have no interest in getting up close and personal with their butts.

“Straight men literally have no idea they need to wash their crack unless a brave woman dares to give them feedback after getting a little too close. I don’t know if parents are scared to teach their sons the full extent of hygiene or if there’s some spooky masculinity complex at play where they’re scared to ‘go in there,’ but it’s terrifying how willing they are to get in the shower and overlook one of the dirtiest parts of their body," said Kai, 26.

“No, I don’t. I just don’t think to do it, honestly. Period," said Chase, 33.

While it appears that this is a taboo topic for some men and an entirely foreign one for others, it doesn't mean all men have some basic hygiene lessons to learn. Luckily, or unluckily for the women who encounter them, the ones who need the lessons appear to be the few.
