The 39-year-old singer, once known for the usual eccentric style associated with female pop artists, seems now to have found a new look, and she’s sticking to it.
At nearly every appearance she makes nowadays, Mugerwa is rocking corporate attire – blight-colored blazers, pants, and heels. Her fans have been keen to know about this fashion transformation, and many took to her comment section to ask about where she’s getting the outfits from.
Speaking in an interview, Mugerwa said her suits are not sourced from any high-end outlet and that most of them she buys from downtown.
“I get my suits from anywhere; I don't have a specific high-end place. Wherever I am walking, if I see something I like I just stop,” she said.
“I mostly go downtown because that is my favorite place. I have my Hajjat there who supplies me with these suits.”
Mugerwa says downtown is “like home” to her since she too is in the clothing business.
“I have been shopping downtown all my life, and besides; I am in the business of selling kids' clothes. That is where I cut my bales from,” she said.
On why she decided to take on the corporate style, Mugerwa said she wanted to look the part of her new career path as a “corporate musician.”
"In life, there is always a time for transformation, if you think that all the time you are going to be young, that is not how it works,” she said.
Besides, she says, people used to look down upon musicians and other artists from the music industry.
“Even if you were discussing matters of policy and how to move the industry forward, they always found a way of avoiding us because they thought we were not serious people,” she said
“But now we are showing them that we can sit at the same table with them.”
