Clever J gifted Shs 2.7M by Pr Bugembe, wants divorced wife back

The ‘Manzi wa nani’ singer says following his recent breakthrough in music, things are starting to look up for him and he's even putting final touches on his house.

“My house is nearing completion; things in general are moving in the right direction. I feel happier, I feel more hope all thanks to Jesus,” he said.

Clever J was speaking yesterday, Sunday at Pastor Wilson Bugembe’s Worship House church in Nansana.

When asked by the pastor if he was ready to get back with his estranged wife, the singer expressed optimism.

“There is nothing that can be stopped if God allows it,” he remarked. “I know she can see me now; I pray for her to succeed in whatever she’s doing.”

The wife, Sharon Apolot left their home in Wakiso saying their marriage had become unbearable.

She accused the singer of over drinking, using drugs and sleeping around with other women.

“This house has become his lodge,” Apolot told Spark TV back in 2019.

“He doesn't leave money here, sometimes I get food from our neighbors. The other day, he came home very violent and smashed our TV in anger."

Apolot also accused Clever J of refusing to pay school fees for their two children.

During yesterday’s church service however, the artist told the congregation that his wife left him because he became broke.

“Back then I was a star, and she expected the life of Barbie (Itungo) or Zuena (Kirema),” he said.

Pastor Bugembe congratulated the singer upon transforming his life and accepting salvation in his life.

He pledged to support him with Shs 1million.

Other church members also made contributions to a tune of Shs 1.7million to the veteran artist.

Clever J has a concert this weekend on August 4, at the Lugogo KCCA Grounds.
