Silverback Awards 2022

Uganda Marketers’ Society (UMS) has announced its partnership with Uganda Advertising Association (UAA) on the industry awarding competition dubbed Silverback Awards. The competition that was launched last year saw over 18 agencies embrace and appreciate the level of constructive criticism given to the creative works they have done.

The signing of the partnership has seen Uganda Marketers Society, an umbrella body for marketers in the country, join efforts with Uganda Advertising Association to recognise and award exceptional work created and produced within the marketing and communications industry.

Speaking about the partnership, Sandra Arinaitwe the UMS Vice President recognised the importance and need for healthy competition within the industry.

“It is vital for the industry to celebrate, recognize and reward star performance. As UMS we are excited to join hands with UAA to celebrate our marketers.”

Silverback Awards in 2022 pleasantly shocked and changed the course of the industry as admen and women embraced and sought to get recognition for the work they submitted. Speaking into the vision for 2023, Frank Muthusi, the Chairman UAA recognised the uproar from the first inaugural awards.

“We made our statement last year and our agencies received this competition with excited and open arms. Silverback Awards is an annual award ceremony to celebrate and identify work worth recognition. The hope is that with this, we will build our muscle in the quality of work we produce and create for our clients and market overall.” Muthusi noted.

Partnerships with bodies like UMS will unify the industry and catalyse the transformation of the advertising and marketing industry in Uganda. Details on the theme and categories of this year’s competition will be announced in August.

Advertising agencies and marketing practitioners are encouraged to work towards creating work to be submitted for this year’s Silverback awards. Trainings on how to make award winning submissions will be held in September to equip this year’s contenders.
