Singer Douglas Mayanja, aka Weasel Manizo, has weighed in on the recent public accusations made by his nephew, Abba Marcus Mayanja, against his father, Jose Chameleone.
Weasel warned the youngster to cease the attacks on his father lest he suffer the same fate.
Abba, Chameleone’s first-born son, came out on December 16 with a shocking public assault on his father, accusing him of being a careless alcoholic
In a TikTok video, Marcus mentioned that this addiction is also responsible for his father's noticeable weight loss. He expressed dismay at the social media backlash directed towards his mother, insisting that she should not be blamed.
But Weasel, in his response, expressed disappointment at Abba’s approach, while offering a hopeful perspective on his nephew’s eventual understanding of his father’s struggles.
Weasel Defends Chameleone’s Sacrifices
The Gudlyfe legend urged Abba to reconsider his accusations and reflect on his father’s dedication and sacrifices.
“Abba is talking about his dad being an alcoholic. But how does an alcoholic remember to always pay your school fees at Galaxy International School, where they pay $20,000?” he wondered.
“How can a drunk take you abroad, buy you a house, and carry on taking care of all your bills?”
“This was very painful. I love you, Abba, but you need to stop,” Weasel said.

Understanding Life’s Challenges
Weasel also warned his nephew that as an adult he will soon experience first-hand what his father is going through.
He shared insights from his own upbringing, recalling the wisdom passed down by his father Gerald Mayanja.
“My father used to give me this message when I was young, that I would soon grow up and find out about the world. This world will always find a way to put you in line,” he said.
He added that everyone faces trials and tribulations, including those that lead some to unhealthy coping mechanisms.
“We all grow up innocent and well-disciplined. But at some point in life, you find someone poking themselves and filling themselves with drugs,” Weasel remarked, urging Abba to consider the factors that may have led his father to his current struggles.
Soon it will be your turn
Weasel further noted that Abba will come to appreciate his father’s efforts as he matures.
He pointed out that Abba’s current residence in the United States, a first-world country, will teach him valuable lessons.
“The good thing is that Abba is now in the US. He will soon have his own children, and then he will understand what his father is going through,” Weasel noted.
Chameleone was hospitalised in Kampala with Abba revealing days later that the singer was battling acute pancreatitis.
On Monday this week, the legendary musician travelled to Minnesota in the US for specialised treatment.
