“This priest that God bought to our family has never served in the government…but she and her husband have somehow managed to do&nbsp;great things on their own.”

Right from when they sent her for university education in Minnesota, USA, Museveni said Patience had a knack for entrepreneurship, starting a grain milling business before she ventured into cattle farming.

President Museveni was speaking at the closing of the “<a href="https://www.pulse.ug/news/uganda-first-daughter-patience-rwabwogo-speaks-on-labor-externalization/brjgbth" title="Patience is following in my footsteps - Museveni">Light up Ankole Region for Jesus</a>” crusade at Mbarara’s Booma grounds, which was hosted by Patience.

Like himself, Museveni said his daughter had rejected the Christian message of not working for worldly wealth, which even drove him away from the Scripture Union back in the 1960s.

“I thank God that she has been able to preach the word of God and also grew her own wealth,” Museveni said.

“It is not right to be a Christian leader and stay poor. What are you teaching other people? The Bible says your bodies are temples of God. But if your body is poor and hungry and sick what kind of temple is that?”

The Light up Ankole Region for Jesus crusade was held under the theme: “Redigging the wells of revival.”

During his state visit to Kenya on May 16, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni used a unique analogy to highlight the need for African unity.

Addressing a the media alongside President William Ruto, Museveni compared Africa to a house divided into many rooms, each representing a different country.

His compelling metaphor aimed to underline the irrationality of current African borders and the need for closer collaboration among nations.

President Museveni captivated his audience with a vivid comparison.

He said, "Africa is amazing because Africa is one house, one building. Now, the sitting room is another country. The bedroom is another country. The other one is another country. Now, to go from the bedroom to the outside, you must go to another country. We must get a visa. What is this now?"

This analogy painted a clear picture of the fragmented nature of African countries, making it difficult for citizens to move freely and trade across borders.

He emphasised that Uganda is part of Kenya, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), but the current borders act like walls separating rooms in a house.

Museveni's visit was marked by the signing of a tripartite agreement with President Ruto.

This pact allows the importation and transit of refined petroleum products through Kenya to Uganda.

The agreement aims to resolve ongoing disputes and boost bilateral trade, marking a significant step towards regional cooperation.

Museveni’s speech was not just about trade but also about a broader vision for Africa. He stressed the importance of forming an East African Federation to solve common problems.

"If we had formed the East Africa Federation, we wouldn’t have the problems we have now," he said.

He pointed out that smaller countries in Europe, like Denmark and Belgium, benefit from the protection and support of larger allies, in this case, the United States.

He asked a critical question: "Who is the head boy in Africa here? We are all small people, small people. That's what we are really trying to deal with."

Museveni highlighted three historical missions that African countries should rally behind; prosperity through wealth creation and market access, strategic security, and utilising brotherhood.

He urged African leaders not to waste the current opportunity for unity and development. "Before, opportunity was wasted, and we should not waste this opportunity now. Nobody will be left behind," he asserted.

Museveni reiterated that by focusing on unity and collaboration, Africa can overcome its challenges and create a brighter future for all its people.

President Yoweri Museveni’s daughter Patience Rwabwogo has expressed dismay at the ever-rising number of young Ugandans leaving their country to seek employment in the Middle East.

The First Daughter described as “a sign of a cursed nation,” the burgeoning labour externalization market in Uganda, calling for Ugandans to pray for divine intervention.

“It is a curse for our children to go and start working in people’s houses in Saudi Arabia,” she said.

"The Lord wants us to be blessed here in our land. We need to break that curse of our people going to get jobs as maids in people’s homes.”

Mrs Rwabwogo, the senior Pastor of the Covenant Nations Church in Luzira was yesterday preaching at the “Light Up Ankole Region for Jesus” Crusade held at Mbarara’s Booma Grounds.

The rising rate of labour externalization, mostly to the Middle East remains a contentious topic in the country. The government through the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development estimates that over 358,000 Ugandans are currently employed in the Middle East, particularly in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, and Kuwait.

These workers remit approximately $1.2 billion annually, contributing significantly to Uganda's economy​, although there have been multiple reports of human rights abuses and inadequate legal protections for migrant workers.

There have been instances of exploitation and mistreatment by unscrupulous employers and illegal recruitment agencies. To address these issues, the Ugandan government and stakeholders are working towards strengthening the regulatory framework and ensuring better management of the sector.

President Yoweri Museveni in a recent speech said it is wrong for Uganda to be shipping out its youthful labour to foreign lands, despite the country’s potential in numerous sectors including commercial agriculture, industry, services and ICT.

Mrs Rwabwogo in her sermon as the chief host of the crusade, rallied believers to pray for their country to be ridden of such curses as labour externalization and corruption.

“Parts of the country are clothed not in salvation but in wickedness, sin and corruption,” she said.

“We need to remove the garments of inequity and corruption and clothe ourselves with salvation and righteousness.”

The crusade, held under the theme; “Redigging the wells of revival” had a long list of preachers including Pastors Alex Mitala, Joshua Lwere, Moses Odong, John Bunjo, Michael Kimuli, among others.

The recent decision by the Ugandan government to reduce its reliance on Kenya for the importation of its petroleum products is expected to cause significant ripple effects in Kenya.

Currently, Uganda imports 90% of its petroleum products through the port of Mombasa and the rest through the Port of Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania.&nbsp;

However, the country is looking to fortify its control over the supply of petroleum products.

The move, detailed in the Petroleum Supply (Amendment) Bill, 2023, approved by the Cabinet on Monday, October 23, is poised to impact the dynamics of petroleum trade in the region.

Uganda's strategic maneuver involves mandating the Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) to take a central role in sourcing and supplying petroleum products to licensed Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).

This departure from the status quo is anticipated to have far-reaching consequences for Kenya, which has been a crucial player in Uganda's petroleum importation.

The existing importation structures have seen licensed Ugandan OMCs accessing their import allocations through affiliated Kenyan OMCs.

The policy shift in Uganda was triggered by Kenya’s decision to replace the Open Tender System with a <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulselive.co.ke/news/local/inside-kenyas-deal-with-saudi-aramco-abu-dhabi-national-oil-company/3x6cxzj">government-to-government importation arrangement with the United Arab Emirates</a> and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.&nbsp;

“It exposed Uganda to occasional supply vulnerabilities where the Ugandan OMCs were considered secondary whenever there were supply disruptions. These vulnerabilities paused additional challenges, resulting in Uganda receiving relatively costly products and ultimately impacting the retail pump prices,” said Uganda’s Minister Of Energy And Mineral Development Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu.

In the new plan, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in Uganda will retain its regulatory role in overseeing petroleum product importation, while UNOC will take charge of sourcing and supplying products to licensed OMCs.&nbsp;

The new deal also guarantees buffer stocks in Uganda and Tanzania, minimizing the impact of potential supply disruptions.&nbsp;

Eyes are now on Uganda’s Parliament as the proposal goes through the necessary approvals.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has waded into the recent invasion of Northlands farm owned by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family.

The General threatened to lead Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) track down the goons who stormed the&nbsp;farm and made away with livestock and other valuables and leaving behind a raging&nbsp;inferno at the expansive farm.

Taking to social media on Saturday, Muhoozi who described the retired Kenyan President as his brother expressed his displeasure at the development and threatening to beat the hooligans to pulp.

“My big brother's farm was attacked by hooligans the other day. We will send UPDF to protect him. We will beat those hooligans to a pulp!” General Muhoozi wrote on Twitter.

He took his claims a step further alleging that the neighbouring nation would send UPDF to provide security to the retired president.

"I asked Mzee to deploy me as the OC (Officer Commanding) at Northlands. All we need is 200 UPDF soldiers to bring order. He asked me why? I told him that Kenyans need a good beating. He refused." Muhoozi continued.

Last year, General Muhoozi took to Twitter in an outburst in which he threatened to capture Nairobi.

"I will capture Nairobi for sure! That's my hometown. If any Kenyan tries to prevent me. He'll be soup! We will drink him for dinner. My father can sack me again if he wants,"&nbsp;read the deleted tweet.

The general alleged that some Kenyans fear Uganda’s army, which according to him, is far superior to Kenya’s and can capture Nairobi in a week.
