The event's main guest is former US President Barack Obama who, on Monday, delivered a lecture on the legacy of the decease ant--apartheid hero.

Odinga will also deliver a similar lecture from Mandela's birth town of Mvezo in Easten Cape.

"Raila Odinga has left the country for a four-day visit to South Africa where he is attending the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's birth," Onyango said in a media statement on Monday evening.

Obama's lecture was held in Johannesburg where Mandela was first arrested in the 1950s while advocating for abolishment of apartheid.

Despite the celebration of Mandela's legacy, many black South Africans are highly disenfranchised from discrimination enacted by the Apartheid regime.
