President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have attended the consecration of their daughter, Pastor Patience Rwabwogo, as an Episcopal Bishop.

The ceremony is taking place at Covenant Nations Church in Luzira, Kampala, on Sunday, August 23, 2026. It also marks the church’s 20th anniversary.

“President @KagutaMuseveni and the First Lady, @JanetMuseveni, are attending the consecration of Pastor Patience Kokundeka Museveni Rwabwogo to the Episcopal Office of Bishop,” State House announced on X.

Rwabwogo is the founder and lead pastor of Covenant Nations Church. The ministry started as a small fellowship in the mid-2000s and later expanded to several parishes, with its main base at City of David in Luzira.

International evangelist Bishop Dr LaDonna Osborn is presiding over the consecration. She arrived in Uganda ahead of the ceremony and has taken part in several Christian activities during her visit.

Museveni and Janet hosted Osborn at State House Entebbe on August 19. Rwabwogo also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the First Family recalled its relationship with the Osborn family, which stretches back four decades.

Osborn first visited Uganda with her late mother, evangelist Dr Daisy Washburn Osborn, in 1985. The family took part in Christian missionary work during a turbulent period in Uganda’s history.

Janet said Daisy prayed with the Museveni family and gave their children their first Bibles. She credited the encounter with influencing her own Christian journey.

Museveni has also backed his daughter’s ministry in previous years. During the Light Up Ankole for Jesus Mission in Mbarara in May 2024, he praised Rwabwogo for preaching the Gospel and combining faith with work.

Rwabwogo has led several large Christian gatherings in Uganda. In May 2025, she hosted the five-day Light Up Uganda for Jesus Mission Convention at Kololo Independence Grounds. Osborn was among the guest preachers.

Her elevation to the episcopal office gives her a wider leadership role after about two decades of ministry.
