'You're better than pastors' - Bugingo praises visiting Muslim delegation
- Pastor Aloysius Bugingo hosted a delegation of Muslim leaders at his home in Namayumba, Wakiso district
- The Muslim leaders congratulated him on surviving a gunman attack in January and came to check on him
- Bugingo expressed gratitude towards the Muslim leaders and contrasted their care to that of his fellow pastors
The team which entailed the leadership of the Muslim Community in Wakiso district had come to check on the pastor and to congratulate him on surviving a gunman attack in January this year.
These were led by Sheik Erias Kigozi, the Wakiso District Kadhi.
Addressing the Mulsim clerics, Pastor Bugingo said he was taken aback by the good gesture.
He even contrasted the Muslims to his fellow pastors, whom he said, were not as caring.
“Most of my friends, the ones I can contact when I have an emergency are Muslims,” Bugingo said.
“If I got shot at by gunmen and there were two houses, one belonging to a Muslim and another to a pastor, I would run to the Muslim's because I don't know what a pastor would say.”
“I am not worried about the pastors or scared of them, but I have not had any delegation of pastors coming here to see me since I was attacked. I don't judge them and I am not mad at them because they are not the ones that called me,” he added.
January attack
Pastor Bugingo survived an assassination on January 2nd this year, when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle in Namungona, before swiftly escaping the scene on a motorcycle.
His bodyguard, Corporal Richard Muhumuza was killed in the attack.
Police said in a statement that despite sustaining injuries during the attack, Pastor Bugingo managed to drive the vehicle to Mulago Hospital.
